It is with heavy hearts that we have to let you know that Hebden Bridge Folk Roots Festival has taken the decision to cancel our festival this year. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, it is absolutely clear that this is the only course of action for us take to protect the health and wellbeing of all concerned.
We have been busy working behind the scenes to liaise with artists, venues, and funders to see how we can move forward in the most positive way possible. We were very excited about hosting the fantastic artists on the 2020 line-up, which promised to bring together some of the best English and Irish contemporary folk musicians in Hebden Bridge. We hope to be able to announce that we are rescheduling the festival and to invite the same line-up as far as we possibly can. We will keep you updated on details of the rescheduled festival plans via social media and, ultimately, here.
We are happy to offer a refund on any tickets bought for 2020’s festival.
BUT there are also some other options you could consider to support us to make next year happen:
If you are a ticket holder, your ticket will transfer – there will of course be no additional cost.
If you are able to, support the artists on the festival line-up by buying their music (see the links to band websites our on our website). You can also look out for online gigs - many musicians will be doing lovely performances you can enjoy while social distancing, with a link to how to donate.
We are a volunteer-run, not for profit festival, and we are very disappointed that we will no longer be able to celebrate folk music and culture with our wonderful community this year. We have been really moved by the support of ticket holders, our funders - Hebden Royd Town Council and Calderdale Council, our venues, our volunteers and, of course, the musicians we were so looking forward to hosting.
Thanks to all these people we will carry on working to bring you an amazing festival. See you when we can!
